McCain Mania

McCainNow let me understand this. As of today, with Nevada and South Carolina behind us, Mitt Romney has won three states: Michigan, Wyoming, and Nevada. John McCain has won two states: New Hamsphire and South Carolina. Huckabee has Iowa under his belt.

Romney now has 59 delegates to the national convention; Huckabee has 38, and McCain has 32. So it would seem logical to conclude that Romney is the front runner, with McCain and Huckabee battling it out for second place. Isn’t that what the statistics suggest?

Why, then, is there this huge media coronation of John McCain as the front runner? Why are the media all but projecting McCain to be the Republican nominee? (McCain has 32 delegates with 1,191 needed to win. Is this some kind of joke?)

I don’t know the answer to this, but I do know that McCain is the media darling for some reason certainly unrelated to the the delegate count, or number of states won.

Perhaps the media believes that McCain will be the easiest candidate for Hillary or Obama to beat in November, and they want to prop him up. Perhaps they see McCain as the most palatable of the Republican candidates to their liberal taste. Whatever the reason, McCain has been crowned by the media as King John.

It remains to be seen whether the media’s conferring of the royal orb, purple cloak, and golden crown upon McCain will sway voters in Florida and in the states voting on Super Tuesday. But one thing is for sure: the media is doing all they can at this point to push the McCain candidacy forward as forcefully as they know how.

  1. I agree completely!!! The media is trying to pick our next president. It seems strange how CNN is downplaying Romney and how McCain is lying about Romney. Anyone with half a brain should be able to see through it all. But then…not too many people do their research. Isn’t it funny how McCain didn’t want any negative ads? He has recently wanted to take voters attention off the economy..thus HIS negative ads… because he knows he doesn’t have anything to offer and he knows that Romney is super-qualified to lead our country. Like I said before…you hit the nail right on the head 🙂
