Another Old Warrior Lost

73954984BB005_wnycJack Kemp died yesterday.  If an era of American life and politics ended with the election of President Obama last November, then Jack Kemp’s death is the exclamation point at the end of that era.

Jack Kemp was the champion of supply-siders.  He was the architect of the 1980s Reagan tax cuts and fiscal policies that ushered in an unparalleled period of economic growth and prosperity in the US.  He was a driving force behind the Reagan revolution.

Jack Kemp was one of the footsoldiers who carried forward Ronald Reagan’s message of American individualism, self-reliance, industriousness,  and excellence.  That message seems to be out of style for the moment; but its time will come again.  And when it does, we can only hope that leaders in the mold Ronald Reagan, and Jack Kemp, arise to take that message and point the way forward.
