The Feast Of Renewal

Yesterday was February 2: Groundhog Day.  I’ve often said that on Groundhog Day, if you take out your imaginary telescope, look way down the tube, squint real hard, and blink a few times, that’s “spring” that you see as a faint point of light at the end.

I really like this time of the year, but not because I like winter.  What I like is that the promise of spring and summer lie ahead, fully spread out out like a rich banquet table, waiting on us to walk through the door and into the banquet hall, sit down, and partake of the feast.  And I have a lot of feasting that I’m planning on doing: bicycle riding, kayaking, traveling, and so many other activities into which winter puts a crimp.

On Groundhog day, the door to the banquet room opens just enough to peer inside.  Stand in the doorway and take a picture of  the lavishly appointed table, and anticipate the deliciousness!

  1. Dad – this put a smile on my face as I see you rowing on your banquet table of streams and lakes with your eyes wide open! It’s coming soon – hang in there! Love you!
